How to be a Contented Archer

1 Have no objectives, set yourself no goals and above all, don't try to compete with anyone, especially not yourself.

2

Keep no records, make no comparisons and never, ever think about your archery for more than a moment or two. Archery is purely a physical sport – it has nothing to do with the mind.

3

Believe everything you are told and never experiment for yourself. Pay particular attention to advice from unqualified people who shoot much lower scores than you do. Luckily, they are the ones who usually offer it first. (Like me? Possibly - you must make your own mind up about that).

4

Rely on outdated books, magazines and people - don’t even try to keep up to date with modern thinking. Archery is centuries old and nothing ever changes.

5

Go with the easy, comfortable things - have nothing to do with anything that is difficult, time consuming or expensive.

6

Remember that top archers are always ready, willing and able to explain exactly what gives them their competitive edge. In particular, professionals can't wait to give away their trade secrets, free, to anyone who asks.
